From Brand Kit to Branded Content: Making Canva Templates Match Your Aesthetic (Step-by-Step)

|Kelly Somers

If you’ve ever found a Canva template you love but struggled to make it feel like your own, this guide is for you.
With a few quick adjustments, you can rebrand any Canva template pack to match your colors, fonts, and overall style.

Whether you already have a Brand Kit (like one of ours) or plan to create your own from scratch, this process will help you build a cohesive, recognizable look across every post, story, and pin.

Why bother rebranding templates?

Templates are a great starting point, but if every post looks like it came from a different designer, your brand presence loses its magic.
Consistency builds trust, and color and typography are two of the simplest ways to create that sense of recognition.

A good Brand Kit acts like your visual toolkit.
It doesn’t need to be complicated — one color palette, one font pairing, and a handful of curated images can completely transform your content.

Step 1: Set up your Brand Kit in Canva

If you’re using Canva Pro, go to Brand → Brand Kit and upload your assets:

  • Add your HEX codes for each brand color
  • Upload or select your brand fonts
  • Add your logo if you have one
  • Upload a few signature images that fit your overall vibe

If you’re using the free version, you can still create a simple “Brand Kit” by keeping your color codes and fonts listed in a separate Canva file.

Step 2: Open your chosen Canva template pack

Open the Canva template you want to rebrand.Click Use Template, then make a copy so you can edit freely without affecting the original.

Step 3: Change the colors

Select any shape, background, or accent element, and click on the color square in the toolbar. Then pick one of your brand colors, and use Change All to apply it across the entire template pack.

You can repeat this for a second accent color if your palette includes one.

If you haven't selected a colour palette yet, you can find some inspiration in our guide to colour palettes for holistic brands.

Step 4: Update the fonts

Click on any text box, select your brand font from the dropdown, and click Change All.

This applies your chosen typography across all text boxes in the file.Using your own font instantly makes the design feel more aligned with your identity.

If you're still exploring font pairings, our guide to fonts for holistic brands is a great place to start.

Step 5: Swap the images

If your template includes photos or textures, replace them with your own.
This could be your product photography, lifestyle shots, or curated stock images that express your brand tone.

Drag and drop your new images over the placeholders, or use Replace Image to keep the layout intact.

Step 6: Save your new branded template

When you’re happy with the result, click File → Save as Template or save it in a folder like “Branded Posts” so you can reuse it easily.

Now you’ll always have a ready-to-go design system for social media that looks intentional and cohesive.

Want a simple starting point?

If you don’t already have a Brand Kit, you can create one yourself by choosing:

  • Three to five complementary colors
  • One heading font and one body font
  • A small collection of images that capture your brand personality

Or, if you prefer to skip the guesswork, our ready-made Brand Kits include one curated color palette, one font pairing, and 20 original stock images designed to make this process effortless.
